Julian Roewer - Award for Bar Chef of the Year 2026
It was with great pleasure and gratitude that I accepted the award from the 101 Best Hotels for “Bar Chef of the Year” 2026. Behind this honor are years of work, learning and a lot of passion.
It all started as a temporary job during the semester break, and as I shook cocktails from unknown recipe cards in front of me, I was seized by ambition. In order to at least have an idea of what I was doing, I started reading books, videos and blogs at night.

It became a passion. Not just for the specialist subject matter, but also for being a host, encounters, conversations, the action, “the tunnel”, when everything meshed together – everything about it was sexy!
With the daring conversion of the bar during the second lockdown of the Corona crisis, the Jules Bar was born, after a philosophy had grown that is always evolving. I got to know some amazing guests who enriched me as a person, breathed life into the bar and gave me constant inspiration, and still do today.
I am deeply grateful to my great team, who live and help shape my vision of a bar with dedication and on whom I could rely without reservation when other tasks in the hotel kept me away from the bar.
“Panta Rhei” – everything is in flux, not just the drinks, but also the ideas and changes. We still have MANY plans, including some that we don’t even know about yet.

What a great evening at Schloss Elmau! At this year’s meeting of Germany’s 101 Best Hotels, our hotel was honored as the Newcomer of the Year – an award that we are truly delighted about. This moment is made even more special by the fact that we are now one of the top 30 hotels in Germany’s most relevant hotel ranking.
Moments like these mean a lot to us. Not because of the trophy itself, but because it makes visible what characterizes our house in everyday life: attentive work, quiet devotion and a hospitality that arises in daily interaction. Values that grow because many people live them together.
This award belongs to our entire team. People who use their experience, professionalism and tangible warmth to ensure that every guest feels that they are in good hands with us. It is the many small gestures, the open ear and the desire to make every stay something special.
We would also like to thank our guests from the bottom of our hearts. Many have been with us for years – with trust, honest feedback and often inspiring conversations. Your loyalty is what drives us. It motivates us to think in new ways, to refine what we already have and to keep giving fresh impetus without losing our attitude.
